Recruiting Calendar
We begin recruiting for the summer in October and continue the process throughout the school year, evaluating each application as it comes to us—a system generally known as 'rolling admissions.' Consequently, there is no specific 'due date' for applications. There are a specific number of spots available in each of 10 different age/gender groups and we accept enrollments in each of those groups until all the available spots are taken, always with an eye towards the overall instrumental/vocal balance.
Acceptance Criteria
Because we offer a range of instrumental and vocal ensembles at different musical levels, we are seeking campers on a wide range of instruments/voices at those different levels. We welcome campers at beginning, intermediate and advanced levels, and offer appropriate ensembles for each level. The factors we consider when evaluating an application are: personal character, instrument/voice played, musical interest, level of advancement and space available for that gender/age group.
Space Reservations
We do accept space reservations by phone or email from families who have reviewed our materials and had a satisfactory in-person or telephone interview with Jamie. We will happily hold a space for one week while the paperwork is completed and mailed in.
Application
To make application, parents should send a completed enrollment form, a deposit, and, for new upper campers, an audition tape and personal recommendation. The deposit should be a personal check as we are unable to accept credit cards. The deposit is not refundable once the camper has been accepted. If, for some reason, a camper is not accepted, the entire deposit will be refunded.
Acknowledgment
Upon acceptance, parents will receive a welcome package from us containing various kinds of information including a schedule of subsequent springtime mailings and other important dates on the camp calendar. Usually we will respond to an application within a few days, and parents can expect an acknowledgment from us within 1–2 weeks.
